Jonathan Ask US To Stop Burning Of The Quaran
Published on September 9, 2010 by pmnews · 4 CommentsPresident Goodluck Jonathan has condemned in strong terms, the alleged plans by a US Pastor, Terry Jones, to burn copies of the Quran, as the United States marks the anniversary of the September 11,2001, terror attacks.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Ima Niboro, this evening, Jonathan noted that as the leader of a nation noted for its religious and ethnic plurality, he has a duty to speak out against of any actions than can further put asunder the already fragile bonds between the two great religions of the world.
President Jonathan urged the US preacher to rethink his plan, stating that the September 11 attacks have been roundly condemned the world over even by millions of Islamic faithful, and burning the religion’s sacred book can only create more problems than it is meant to solve.
The President also urged the US authorities to look into the irrelevant laws and find a means of stopping Pastor Jones, since the country is renowned for its tolerance of different religions and points of view.

That’s good comment from Mr president(Jonathan) united state pastor need to re-think abt this action b4 steping into it evendo this act can led to religion war in the world again but am strongly believe that president Obama does not aware of this ugly incident that about to occur.World leader should stop this pastor please!!!
Who tell you say Obama is not aware…he don call the man make he stop am if na joke. Make una dey read other website before una comment for this our local newspaper. I know you too be local woman.
That pastor should not pls pay evil for evil, bcos he who fights and run lives to fight another, and based on how radical the muslims are they could even take lives of innocent people around the world who don’t even know about the act.
I really cheer Mr present ( Jonathan ) for coming out in clear terms that the action the US base pastor is about do is not acceptable. Moreso, president Obama himself has said in clear terms that the war is not against Islam but against terrorist.
Even we Nigerians are not in support of such an action, cos the world trade centre and Binladen issue was not an islamic issue but an act of those who hate the foundamental principles of the US and attack under the disguise of islam.
