As the elder statesman, Pa Anthony Enahoro begins his final journey home, the Lagos State Government is hosting a valedictory interdenominational service and day of tributes for him tomorrow.
The celebration of the life and time of Enahoro is being packaged by the state government in collaboration with the Western Region Associates of Enahoro; the National Democratic Coalition, NADECO and the Pro-National Conference Organisation, PRONACO.
Nigerians, including associates, politicians, among others will gather at the Onikan Stadium tomorrow, Tuesday 1 February for the celebration of the late nationalist, who died on 15 December, 2010. Enahoro will be buried in his home town of Uromi , Edo State , South-South Nigeria on Friday.
The burial committee is being headed by his son, Eugene Enahoro. His burial was delayed because of the ongoing voter registration exercise as the Federal Government wanted to play an active role in the burial.
The Federal Government had told the Enahoro family that the burial should be postponed from the initial 29 January date fixed for it, saying it would not be feasible because of the ongoing voter registration which would end that day and requested that it be shifted to enable it have enough time to prepare.
Wale Okuniyi, National Publicity Secretary, PRONACO, said the Edo State Government would organise its programme for Enahoro on Wednesday in order to honour him.
The Edo State Government would also host a special programme to honour Enahoro before the wake-keep comes up on Thursday, 3 February and his interment the following day.
A candle light vigil would be held for him by human rights activists between 7.00 p.m. on 3Â February and 12.00 a.m. on 4 February.
It would also be a time for activists to pay their last respect to the late Enahoro at a tribute session.
