Following the enactment of the law banning same-sex marriage, the Anglican Communion of the Niger Delta North has compelled newly ordained priests to take oath against  homosexualism and cultism.

Before ordaining the priests on Sunday at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul’s, Port Harcourt, Most Reverend Ignatius C.O. Kattey, the Archbishop of the Province of Niger Delta and also the Bishop of the Niger Delta North, insisted that the priests must swear an oath that they will not be involved in homosexual and cult activities.

Among those ordained were an archdeacon, eight canons and twelve priests.

The newly ordained clerics took oath that if they were involved in the banned activities, which also include fetish practices, “the wrath of Almighty God should fall upon them.”

The Archbishop warned the newly ordained clerics to lead the life demanded of their callings as enshrined in the Holy Bible. He told them in clear terms that Anglican doctrine and the Bible abhor same-sex marriage, fetish and homosexual practices.
