Killings In Kaduna: Nigerian Police confirm P.M.NEWS report

Kaduna state Police Command has confirmed the gun and machete attacks on Assembly of God church members at Nayida Village, Chikun Local area of Kaduna, where a pastor and nine other persons were killed.

The police dubbed the attacks a reprisal attack, executed by Fulani herdsmen.

P.M. NEWS had reported that a pastor and other nine members were killed by men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen when they attacked Assembly Church of God at Chikun local government area of Kaduna State .

The new Kaduna Police Commissioner, Mohammed Abubakar told newsmen this aftertoon that the attack was ” a reprisal by relations of Fulani herdsmen who were victims of the April 2011 post election violence. “. According to him, the herdsmen were not only killed, they lost cows and motorcycles”.

On why the attack went on unhindered , the police boss said there was no communication network of any of the service providers and victims had problem contacting the police or any of the law enforcement agencies.

While urging the ethnic groups in the area to remain calm , Abubakar gave assurance that police have beefed up security in the area to forestall further attack .

He however disclosed that investigation into the ugly incident has commenced with a promise to get to the root of the matter.
