208 Ex-militants On Scholarship At Igbinedion University -Kuku

A total of 208 ex-militants of the Niger Delta region are currently on scholarship pursuing various degree programmes at Nigeria’s premier private university, Igbinedion University, Okada.

Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta matters and Chairman, Federal Government Amnesty Committee, Kingsley Kuku made this disclosure on Thursday during the 13th Founders’ Day anniversary of the university.

Kuku who was represented by Lawrence Pepple, Technical Assistant/Head, Re-integration Department in the Presidency, also disclosed that 18 other ex-militants trained in South Africa recently acquired their private pilot licenses, and are currently training to acquire their commercial pilot licenses.

According to him, over 26,000 registered ex-militants are being groomed by the agency for re-integration into the society through various skill acquisition programmes across the nation and overseas.

Mr. Pepple however did not disclose how much the federal government has so far spent on the scholarship and other programmes for the ex-militants.
