Official: 36 dead, 101 injured in Nigeria blasts 
Published on June 17, 2012 by pmnews · 35 CommentsBomb attacks on five churches in Nigeria’s Kaduna State and subsequent rioting by Christian youths targeting Muslims killed at least 36 people and injured 101 others Sunday, according to latest official confirmations.
Police said 16 people died after blasts at three churches, while a Red Cross official in Kaduna city told AFP that aid workers “so far have recovered over 20 bodies” of people killed by rioters. Most were “burned beyond recognition,” he added.
Earlier, the official had put the death toll at 21.
“Latest figures from medical personnel on the total deaths from the bombings and protests are 21 deaths and 101 injured,” said an official from the National Emergency Management Agency who requested anonymity.

This govt is paralyzed. Its time for GEJ to surrender the baton because he cant continue to rule an unsecured nation. Since the challenge is too big for him to tackle let him resign or be impeached. Also the Asst IGP should hold his face in shame after boasting to stop the menance of the Boko Haram. Christians have suffered and cried without protection from govt. If the event had been the other way round do you think Nigeria would still remain calm as this ?
How do you deal with terrorists who target the most vulnerable – people congregating to pray. That is the height of cowardice and religious intolerance. This is not about GEJ, it is about Buhari, Ciroma and the rest who vowed they would make Nigeria ungovernable. They too have no answer to the situation. Now that reprisal attacks have started, they should know that anyeen can become a victim, so they need to call the miscreants they let loose on Nigerians to order. Buhari is busy still making volatile comments. GEJ needs to stop shielding those behind the carnage.

Let the christians get ready as from now, most especially that they are moving towards ramadan, anywhere there is bomb last in the country again agaist the christians should be resisted without further delay so that the so called bokn haram can know what they mean by bombing. Mr President should try to do some thing about boko haram. I want to suggest that the federal should place security men on every street in the northern part of the country also want to advise that only lgbo and Yorubas be used instead of using their tribe men because they will compromise the challenges coming.

This boko haram menace has really gotten out of hand. How do we deal with this unending supply of suicide bombers for boko haram activities? What else can GEJ do? These people hav really succeeded in making Nig ungovernable. I think Mr president should replace all security heads in those troubled spots with christians, atleast they can do more to protect christians since they’r more vulnerable. Also vehicular movement should be prohibited around places of worship for now
@safe journey. the brigade commander of army barracks in kano is a muslim and he is doing a wonderful job fighting boko haram. no sane muslim is happy with what is happening to christians. if the christians choose to attack innocent muslims, they have turned themselves into boko haram too and that is what the boko haram want. These boko haram people are mostly foreigners from chad, cameroon and niger coming to destabilise nigeria by collaborating with few nigerians. I blame GEJ because he is suppose to pass executive order to declare any foreigner living in nigeria to register his presence with immigration service within 7 days or be arrested and deported. He should also order the governors of the affected states to conduct local house to house screening to identify nigerians and illegal alliens. For the churches, their authorities should block all entrances and roads to their premises during sunday service and direct all cars to park atleast 200 meters away from the church compound. they should use heavy anti~ram drop arms and other road blockers that can withstand truck and car impact. There are so many ways to stop this bombing but the problem is that the president is surrounded by mediocres who lacks professional skills of fighting terrorism. I wonder why mr president is not seroius about this terrorist problem. please, christians should stop calling for revenge on innocent muslims because this is exactly what the terrorists want and nobody will survive second civil war. iam a retired army officer and i dont like war. only those who are ignorant of war prays for it and they are always the first casualties of combat. i hope you get my point. thank you.

Left to me Christians youths should stop going to Church in the north, get armunitions to defend themselves at home and try as much as proven possible to attack muslims on fridays with car bombs, RPG attacks etc.
Also all call to early morning prayers in mosques in the north must be silence through IED attacks etc. The young revolutionaries in the military should assist their christian brothers with gun men, arms and logistics.

Boko haram and Niger-delta militancy have been in operation since the 2nd term of obasanjo administration. They were there during the short rule of Yar’adua. Yar’adua has to battle two menace at the same time: Niger-delta militancy and Boko haram. Maturedly, Yar’adua totally solved Niger-delta militancy which the military experience and power of obasanjo could not solve for eight years. Now Jonathan rather than tailor his administration after his late boss, relied on his pot-belly ‘security experts’ which cannot match mordern day sophisticated terrorism.
No govt. in the world can defeat terrorism. Even the U.S have only complicated the world problems with its war on terrorism.
Solution: Jonathan himself, in conjunction with CAN and NSCIA with notable northern leaders should beg and negotiate with boko haram to stop this blood letting. Boko haram, like niger-delta militancy is a creation of unjust political machinations; it can consume this nation, which may include you and i.
Ashogbon, are you sure Yar Adua solved the problem? Has the problem been solved? For your information, no nation discusses with terrorists. The Niger Delta militants were not terrorists – have you had the time to go to the Niger Delta region where all the money in the federation is coming from? They do not have water, road, food, etc while the people living in Abuja have all these in abundance. The people protested and when the government promised and started doing those things, they stopped. How Boko Haram is saying they want to Islamized Nigeria, how do you negotiate this? Is the government going to ask the large Christian population in the country to become muslims? What is the meaning in a group that said western education is an abomination? How do you discuss with these kinds of people? Maybe they will make you the chief negotiator. If you are the one going to negotiate, mind you that it is not only Hausa/Fulani or Muslim north that have youth that are violence. We also have such among the Tivs, Jukuns, Azaras, the Ibos etc. After you will finish negotiating with this group more than ten groups will spring up!
This is a serious issue. For how long shall will allow blood of innocent people to flow on our streets. Our desting is not in the hand of GEJ but in our own hands. Christians rise and defend your faith.

Does it have to result into religious war before the government does something on this? I keep on repeating it that this regime have purpose for all these death and bloodshed cos even the weakest government on earth would have taken actions all the while to arrest the situation. Can someone remind Jonathan that he is CinC and as such the security of lives is his responsibility. If he fails to know, he will surely be accountable, both on earth and in heaven for each of the souls that has died under his careless ruling. @ JTI, Yes i agree with you that no nation negotiate with terrorist group IN THE OPEN. But underground, they negotiate. I also agree that Niger-delta militancy is not a terrorist group but then they became a FRUSTRATION on all the goverment of the day until the govt listened and negotiate with them, which is fine. This is my arguement: 1. Boko haram is a creation of an unjust, incompetent and insensitive government. 2. Having been created, they’ve outgrown their creator i.e govt. 3. Their intention is to consume this nation thru religious divides. 4. Nigerian security cannot match them as it is. 5. They can be curtailed only by direct president’s involvement thru diplomatic public appeals. 6. The muslim highest body NSCIA and CAN with all 1st class emirs of the north should be used as underground negotiator to stop the violence. A NOTE: boko haram have NO DEFINITE DEMAND EXCEPT TO BE GIVEN THEIR OWN SHARE OF NATIONAL CAKE, irrespective of their modus operandi. Christians have been so patient, but yesterday’s attack was received with spontaneous calls from most Christians for retaliation. It is possible that a higher being has stirred the heart of the people to attack.
