Kidnappers Of Doctor Demand N100m Ransom

The kidnappers of a medical doctor in Rivers state, southsouth Nigeria, Dr Frank ThankGod Chukwudi, have demanded N100 million as ransome before they would set him free.
Dr Chukwudi was kidnapped on Tuesday, 19 June at about 6.30 p.m. on his way from work in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Following the incident, the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Rivers State branch, has raised the alarm over the spate of kidnapping in the state.

NMA cited the abduction of their member, Dr Chukwudi, as the latest case.

The association decried the kidnapping of medical doctors said that they had thought that the abduction of medical doctors in the state had ceased.

The medical body called on the state government and security agencies to provide protection to the citizens, especially medical personnel in the state.

In a statement, the association’s Public Relations Officer, Dr Briggs, said kidnappers had demanded N100 million but scaled it down to N12 million, warning that the association would not continue to allow the lives of its members. to be in jeopardy in their line of duty.

Just yesterday, the wife Mr Ifedayo Adedipe, SAN,Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s lawyer, Mrs Adedipe, was released by her abductors.It’s not certain if ransom was paid before her release.
