4 Boko Haram suspects killed, 3 Arrested in raids

The Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order said on Saturday that it had killed four and arrested three suspected terrorists during an operation in Maiduguri, capital of Nigeria’s Borno state.

JTF spokesman Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa said in a statement in Maiduguri that a number of arms were also recovered by the task force during the operation.

“The JTF conducted simultaneous cordon and search operation on Saturday at about 4 a.m. in different parts of Maiduguri, specifically in Dalla and other areas like Gamboru during which three identified suspected terrorists were arrested,” he said.

Musa added that four suspects were shot dead during the operation.

“The operation in Dalla resulted in massive recovery of arms, ammunitions and Improvised Explosive Devise buried underground in a house. Also four suspected terrorists were shot dead in another operation in Gamboru area,” he said.

Musa said that the arms recovered included a rocket propelled grenade tube, three rocket propelled grenade chargers, 34 tear gas canisters and three tear gas grenade.

“The items are two AK 47 rifles, one rocket propelled grenade tube and three rocket propelled grenade chargers. Others are three G3 rifles, four pump action guns, two locally made pistols, three tear gas launchers and one smoke pistol,” he said.
