A final year student of Madonna University, Onyeka Nwanne, has emerged the winner of Miss Plus Size beauty pageant, smiling home with a new Toyota car among other prizes, while the first and second runners-up got cash gifts of N1 million and N500, 000 respectively.
The three finalists were also made ambassadors of Plus Size Women’s Health Foundation. They will be working on projects which include creating awareness for fibroid and infertility-related problems.
Held at Grand Hotel, Asaba last weekend, the event was initiated by the CEO of Vichiano Service Limited, Victoria Iheakonye. The pageant started off with over 2,000 ladies applying to take of the winning prize, but only 18 made it to the finals.
The event had a truly international feel with a few Americans taking part in making it a success. The judges were headed by Qristyl frazier, a notable face at the Black Entertainment Television (BET) while one of Nollywood’s finest, Aquila Njamah, actress Ifeoma Okeke and another American, Nicole Esperenza Zepeda, were members.
Though some of the Plus Size beauty contestants knew how to walk the runway, catwalk coordinator and choreographer of repute, Angel Vivian drilled them for weeks on how to dazzle on the runway. Getting contestants looking good was an international stylist, Spry Lee Scott also of BET.
