Gov Amaechi’s Chauffeur Electrocuted

One of the drivers attached to the convoy of Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, Mr. Ibiba Jack has been electrocuted.

P.M.NEWS learnt Ibiba died at one of the Government House quarters popularly known as ‘Abual Quarters’ in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State, southsouth Nigeria.

Sources informed our correspondent that a cleaner was suffering from a naked electrical cable shocks when the late driver attempt to assist her.

However, Ibiba’s legs were entangled in the faulty electrical cable and he was electrocuted on Sunday.

He was rushed to the Government House Clinic for medical attention, but was confirmed dead on arrival by a team of doctors.

A statement by Mr. David Iyofor, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Amaechi, confirmed the driver’s death saying, “Mr. Ibiba Jack, a convoy driver in Government House has passed on at his official residence as result of a ‘domestic electrical accident’.”

The statement described Ibiba as a dedicated, hardworking staff of Government House, adding “we are all deeply touched by this sad, sudden loss. Governor Amaechi and his wife, whom Ibiba worked with directly, are indeed deeply shocked and saddened by this unfortunate loss. They sympathise with the bereaved family.” Ibiba Jack left behind a wife nursing a baby boy.

Ironically, the cleaner the late driver attempted to save is said to have survived the electrical shock and is responding to treatment in a hospital.
