Wheelchair Tennis: Adewale Laments Dearth Of Tourneys

One of Nigeria’s wheelchair tennis representatives at the London 2012 Paralympics, Alex Adewale, has lamented the dearth of tournaments for the country’s players.

The vastly travelled Alex ,who spoke withour reporter from his base in Edo State, where he is preparing to represent Edo State at the forthcoming National Sports Festival in Lagos State, said the dearth of tournaments is the bane of wheelchair tennis in the country.

“I am not happy about the dearth of wheelchair tournaments in this country, despite the fact that we have Africa’s best here. Infact, my colleagues are inactive now because there is no tournament for them to keep fit.

“We are appealing to our mother, Senator (Mrs.) Oluremi Tinubu to bring back the New Era Wheelchair Tennis Championship to restore our hope in the game,” Adewale said.
