Due to traffic congestion on the Lagos Island, the Main Organising Committee, MOC of the Eko 2012 National Sports Festival, has rescheduled the rest of the group matches of the male football event scheduled for the Onikan Stadium.
P.M.News can report that matches won’t be played by 8a.m at the stadium due to early morning traffic that have been preventing teams from meeting up with their fixtures. To this end, the match between Oyo State and Delta State, which was initially slated for 8a.m yesterday was shifted to 12p.m, while the second match between Kastina State and Adamawa State maintained its original time of 10a.m. Group matches continue today till Friday.
Commenting on the change of time, representative of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF at the venue, Olusola Ogunnowo, said that the MOC has no other choice than to reschedule the match.
“The reason we have to reschedule this match is because the teams that are supposed to play cannot get to this venue on time because of heavy traffic on Lagos Island. It is not their fault that they cannot reach the venue on time and there is nothing that anybody can do about it,” said Ogunnowo.
Meanwhile, Katsina State worked over the Adamawa State team yesterday morning. This was the second time that Adamawa State have been worked over as they did not show up for their opening group match against Plateau on Monday.
