A Lagos housewife in her mid-50s, Adeyinka Ademola, on Thursday won one of the five Hyundai Verna cars for the raffle draws of the ongoing 18th National Sports Festival in Lagos.

A large crowd that bought the raffle tickets assembled at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere to check their numbers after Thursday’s draw.

As Ademola’s number was announced, she stepped out surprised.

Her hand was shaking as the car keys were handed over to her.

Ademola, who simply said that she was delighted to have won the car, began to chant songs of joy with her children, who were there.

She told NAN that she never believed she could win a car in her old age, adding that “the whole thing is like a magic because I just bought a raffle ticket for N100’’.

Ademola thanked the Lagos State Government for hosting the festival which, she said, provided her the opportunity of participating in the raffle draw and winning the prize.

The Lagos state-born housewife said the memory of the Games would last in her life because of the car.

“I can never forget today, a day that I became a car owner with just N100, I give all the glory to God Almighty who has singled me out and favoured me,’’ she said.

Ademola was later driven round the stadium in the car by her children.

Dayo Alao, Managing Director, Uni-Consults Nigeria Ltd (UNICONSULT), told NAN that there was no secret behind the raffle draw as it was open to everybody.

“Ademola’s case is clear evidence that anybody can win. It is all part of adding value to Eko 2012, so, we encourage more people to enter for the draws,’’ he said.

UNICONSULT was the official raffle administrator handling it for the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Games.
