Nigeria’s Senate President, David Mark has said that citizens of Nigeria across ethnic and religious boundaries are rooting for the Super Eagles as they battle Burkina Faso Sunday in the final of 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Mark told reporters today in Abuja before leading a Federal Government delegation to South Africa to cheer the Eagles to victory against the Stallions that soccer loving Nigerians, both home and abroad, are behind Stephen Keshi and his Eagles because they are worthy ambassadors of the country in this year’s Nations Cup.

Mark, who commended Eagles’ performance against Mali in the semi final of the tournament, told journalists at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport in Abuja that the people of Nigeria are behind the Eagles to deliver the AFCON trophy.

“Part of our message to the Eagles before their game against Burkina Faso is to tell them that Nigerians back home and in diaspora are behind them and they want them to deliver the trophy as part of the build celebration to the centenary anniversary,” he said.

Mark warned that it will be dangerous for the Eagles to underrate Burkina Faso. He, however, tasked the team to remain focussed and approach tomorrow’s final with all seriousness.

” I don’t think our team will underrate Burkina Faso because this is a crucial stage where the new African champions will emerge. I expect the Eagles to come out and give their opponents a good fight so that Nigerians will have a cause to smile at the end of the game,” he said.

Meanwhile, thousands of Nigerians who are Christians have said that they will pray for Eagles’ success in Sunday’s final during Sunday’s service.

Some of the Nigerians who spoke with P.M. News said they will use the church service to pray for the Eagles to overcome their opponents in the final.
