Basketball: Team Lagos Eye Ochei Wheelchair Trophy

Barely 24 hours before the 2nd Victor Ochei International Wheelchair Basketball Championship dunks off at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, runners-up of the first edition that was held in Asaba, Delta State in 2012, Team Lagos, have promised to lift the trophy this time round.

The annual championship for wheelchair basketball clubs in the country, which has also attracted teams from West African nations such as Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic, is scheduled to begin tomorrow and end on 23 February.

Commenting on their chances of winning the trophy this year, Chairman of the Lagos State Wheelchair Basketball Association and Vice-Chairman of the Lagos State Paralympic Commission, Prince Adeshina Adeyemi said Team Lagos are determined to lift the trophy on home soil.

“For Team Lagos, we are ready to make the best of the championship this time around,” he said.
