Apart from Seattle Sounders’ Obafemi Martins and Victor Moses of Chelsea, who had connecting flight issues to Calabar, the capital of the eastern Nigerian state of Cross River, all invited Super Eagles players took part in Tuesday’s evening training supervised by Head Coach, Stephen Keshi.

When Martins and Moses finally made it to the Canaan City, Keshi told them in clear terms to relax in the hotel and wait for the next training session by Wednesday’s evening, which they gladly accepted.

As expected all 14 foreign based players made it to the Transcorp Metropolitan Hotel Camp of the Eagles on Tuesday afternoon, despite local aviation workers’ dispute.

According to the Media Officer of the Eagles, Ben Alaiya, Moses had to take a detour through the Uyo Airport to be on time for Tuesday’s evening training.

Despite early downpour in the Canaan City, which was spiced by drizzles throughout the day, the Nigerian side were compact and ready enough to give their all during the training session. The players were excited about the re-union with their national team colleagues after the exploits at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

During discussions, Oduamadi complained a little about not being called when he was injured.

Team Secretary, Enebi Achor quickly nipped that in the bud by saying he was always in touch with the players.

Oduamadi later said that if he were to feature in the game against Kenya on Saturday he is in good form to score goals against the Harambee Stars.

“I have had opportunities but not in qualifiers for the senior national team. If I get the chance of playing against Kenya on Saturday, I promise to score goals”, said Oduamadi, who now looking simple without his usual dreadlocks trademark.

John Ogu, of Portuguese side, Acadamica, said he is in the Eagles to learn a few tricks from the Nigerian national team set up. Looking bulky and intimidating on the pitch, Ogu was simply a sight to behold in the middle of the pack as players hustle for shirts ahead of Saturday’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Kenya’s Harambe Stars in Calabar.
