President Xi Jinping of China will pay state visits to Senegal, Rwanda and South Africa and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from July 19 to July 24, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced Thursday.

Xi is paying the state visits at the invitation of Presidents Macky Sall of Senegal, Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said in a statement.

Lu said that Xi is expected to attend the Tenth BRICS summit to be hosted by South Africa from July 25
to July 27.

“Xi will attend the BRICS summit at the invitation of President Ramaphosa”, Lu said.

BRICS members are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

On his way home, he said, Xi will also pay a friendly visit to Mauritius during a stopover.

The summit which is called “BRICS Plus Outreach” is being held to ensure
maximum cooperation between the South African chairship of BRICS and the Chinese chairship in 2017.

Pushing investment and inclusive economic growth will be high on the agenda as the nine established
Working Groups of the BRICS Business Council facilitate interaction among powerful heads of state,
captains of business and innovators.

Countries like Argentina, Indonesia, Egypt, and Turkey have been invited for BRICS Plus Outreach.

The Secretary-General of the UN will also be invited for the outreach.
