Eid-el-Kabir: Police deploy 2,020 personnel in Niger

The Commissioner of Police in Niger, Mr. Dibal Yakadi, on Thursday, assured residents in the state of adequate security before, during and after the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Yakadi in Minna said that 2,020 personnel comprising 132 senior officers, 534 Inspectors and 1, 354 rank and file had been deployed for this purpose.

He said that an operational order on how to provide effective security during the Sallah break had been issued to Area Commanders and the Divisional Police Officers in the state for implementation.

“We are committing 2,020 personnel consisting of 132 senior police officers, 534 Inspectors, 1, 354 rank and file to provide a conducive atmosphere for the Sallah festivities, ” he said.

The police chief said that the patrol of all federal highways in the Command would be increased during the festivities, to ensure the safety of lives and property.

Yakadi called on residents in the state to volunteer information to the police on the bad elements in their midst, to enhance security.

According to him, adequate security personnel will be stationed at strategic locations such as prayer grounds, children parks, recreational centers and other suspected crime spots.
