Ambassador Oluwapelumi Oluwayomi has initiated the “Societal Concerns Endurance Walk” campaign, aimed at stopping the illicit killing of security personnel.

With the theme “Protect Our Protectors, Preserving Our Unity,” the campaign stresses the importance of safeguarding those who risk their lives for national security.

Beginning at Ikeja under bridge and concluding at the Lagos House of Assembly, the walk took place on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Representing the Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Honourable Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode, who chairs the House Committee on Information, Strategy, and Security, expressed gratitude to the participants for their patriotism and concern for the nation.

He emphasized the collective responsibility to ensure the safety of security personnel and pledged the support of the House under Rt Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.

The Lagos Commissioner of Police, represented by the IGP, acknowledged the solidarity shown towards law enforcement and condemned the heinous killings of police officers.

Stressing their integral role in society, he stated the detrimental impact on families and the community. He said, “It is the duty of the police to make sure the members of the public are secured, It is a good thing and I think it will go a long way and change the mindset of people that specializes in the killing of policemen for no reason. We are not your enemies preventing crime but we are preventing criminal activities from taking place by protecting the citizens and we should be given pat on the back for doing that. We appreciate this work you are doing and I know that it will go a long way to secure our security agencies”.
