Governorship candidate of the Democratic People’s Alliance (DPA) in Lagos in the 2007 election, Jimi Agbaje, has debunked the rumour that he has defected to the Action Congress.

During an interview with P.M.NEWS yesterday, the pharmacist-cum-politician said since he moved to DPA from AC in 2006, he had never looked back.

Suspecting that the rumour may not be unconnected with his presence at a meeting of AC held in Lagos recently, Agbaje said he was there to represent the National Chairman of DPA, Chief Olu Falae, who then had a pressing family issue to attend to.

Says Agbaje: “I’ve never defected to the Action Congress, the rumour is unfounded and baseless. I am still very much a member of the Democratic People’s Alliance.”

He revealed that the Action Congress invited Falae to its meeting then because there was a serious discussion among the progressive to form a common platform to battle the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2011.

Agbaje also used the opportunity to commend Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, for his performance since he assumed office three years ago.

“To me, Fashola has made progress in Lagos because he has fulfilled some of the electoral promises he made before he was elected, but he needs to do more,” he stated.
