The court room of Chief Magistrateâ€
P.M.NEWS learnt that the deceased came to the court with the intention of bailing his son, Terkimbi Mede of Agba Close, Hudco Quarters, Makurdi, who was standing trial for allegedly stabbing another person. However, when Mede saw his son with other accused persons, the man collapsed at the entrance of the court room.
P.M.NEWS gathered that the counsel to the son, Mr J. I. Azege, drew the attention of the court to the incident which compelled the presiding magistrate to suspend the court proceedings for a while.
When the son of the victim ran out and called his father severally, there was no response from him.
The magistrate, therefore, directed that he should be taken to the hospital and the court was later told that doctors at Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi confirmed that Mr Mede had died about fifteen minutes earlier.
P.M.NEWS learnt that Mede was arrested on 13 May, 2010 by the police following a complaint by Hemen Uva of Ankpa Quarters that he was drinking at Bem Hotels with a lady, when the accused attacked him with a broken bottle and injured him.
P.M.NEWS further learnt that when the case came up at the magistrateâ€
