A prominent resident of Bariga and chairman, Big Way Ventures, Ifako-Gbagada, Lagos, Nigeria, Prince Adeoye Ogundunmade, has hailed last Friday’s verdict of a Lagos High Court presided over by Justice Kazeem Alogba, ordering the Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola, to immediately install Oba Gbolahan Akanbi Timson, as the Jagunmolu of Somolu-Bariga, saying it has made him to have more confidence in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.

Ogundunmade, who has just been made the Oluomo Agbekoya of Yorubaland, noted that the state government had ignore two previous judgments compelling it to recognise and install Oba Timson, even as he met all the legal requirements to be installed Jagunmolu.

He, however, said he is confident that Fashola, being a listening governor and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who knows what is meant by the rule of law, will obey this fresh court’s order and install Oba Timson without delay.

Timson had sought the relief of an Ikeja High Court presided over by Justice Alogba, to compel Fashola to obey the 2002 judgment of Justice Shitta-Bey, which ordered that he be installed an oba.

Justice Alogba, in his ruling on Friday, said there was no valid excuse for government to shy away from installing Timson.

Other defendants in the suit were the Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters and Chairman, Bariga Local Council Development Area.
