In its efforts to continue to train and retrain its officers and men to conform with the modern day combat readiness, the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army in Lagos has commenced a five-day training competition for corporals and lower ranks.
The first day of the event took place at the Bonny Camp Cantonment, Victoria Island, Lagos, while subsequent events would take place in Badagry and Ikorodu areas of Lagos State.
All the events would feature drill, obtacle crossing, map reading, combat swimming, skills at arms and shooting.
The Divisions participating in the competition include 81 Division Garrison, 65 Battalion, bonny Cantonment, 9 Brigade Battalion, Ikeja, 352 Artillery, Ojo Cantonment, 45 Division Engineers and 242 Battalion, Badagry.
Top military officers that graced the occasion includes the GOC 81 Division, Lagos, Major General E. C. A Nwangunwa, Maj. Gen. Essien, Brigadier General Niege, Brig. Gen. Muazu, Brig. Gen Ajemota and Lt. Col. A. B. Biu.
In his opening remarks, the GOC 81 Division, Major Gen. E. C. Nwagunwa noted that as the Nigerian Army continues to professionalise, training has continued to assume greater heights.
