As tension brews at the campus of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria over the alleged killing of a final year student in the Faculty of Education, Department of Education Technology, (name withheld) the university authority has sent aggrieved students packing out of campus to avoid violence and the destruction of lives and property in the institution.

gathered this morning that the deceased student had a disagreement with someone he bought a handset from. When the problem was reported to the Man O War that is contracted to maintain the peace and security on campus, the Man O War officials seized the handset to investigate the matter.

However, according our source on campus, the deceased student allegedly confronted the Man O War official who confiscated the Handset.The Man O War official raised alarm and there was a free-for-all-fight that resulted in the death of the student.

When contacted, Dr. Williams Wodi, the university’s image-maker, confirmed the incident and also said the university authority had to ask the students to vacate the campus since they have finished their semester examinations and also to avoid escalation of violence on campus.

When P.M.NEWS contacted Mrs Rita Innoma-Abbey, the Rivers command image-maker she confirmed the incident on phone but did not give further details.
