Witch Doctor Arrested In Ex-Gov’s House

A middle-aged woman, Mrs. Sabbath Clement Ekanem, alleged to be a practicing witch doctor has been arrested in the home of the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah.

The woman who drove a Mercedes Benz 190 marked AL 83 UYY to the Shelter Afrique, residence of Obong Attah in Uyo was caught by policemen while spreading some powdery substances she carried in a nylon bag around the premises of the former governor.

“We heard the sound of some substances landing on the roof and we went out to find out what was going on. We saw the woman throwing the stuff which she carried in a nylon bag around,“ a security source guarding the home of the former governor told P.M.NEWS.

The alleged witch doctor identified her hometown as Awa Village in Onna Local Government Area and had Akwa Ibom State Government staff identity card No: D800039929 with employment designation as a Pharmacist. She said she came to the ex-governor’s house to “pray for peace to reign in the state.”

The suspected juju-woman who also claimed to have four children described herself as a member of the Deeper Life Bible Church. She explained that she was given the “assignment” by Evangelist (Mrs.) Helen Akpabio, the founder of Liberty Gospel Church. Mrs. Ekanem who spoke polished English while being interrogated by the security men started behaving strange, acting like an insane woman and pretended not to understand anything. As she continued her strange behaviour, the policemen and some aides of the ex-governor who were there released her.

She was not hurt or tortured but was to be taken to the police station for further interrogation before Obong Attah intervened from Abuja.  After her release, the suspect quickly jumped into her car and drove out of the premises of the ex-governor.

When contacted on phone, the former governor acknowledged being informed of the incident but declined comment, saying that he was in Abuja.
