The week-old crisis rocking Mushin area of Lagos State, Nigeria, has continued unabated as parties in the crisis have continued to shoot themselves at will. Two unidentified persons were believed to have been killed yesterday.
P.M.NEWS checks in Mushin this morning confirmed that the crisis usually escalates at night when the two groups in the crisis shoot at each other.
According to an eyewitness, a commercial motorcyclist (Okada rider), who did not want his name mentioned, said initially, the fight was believed to be between NURTW groups battling for the control of the toll gate that links Mushin and Ogunmokun street junction.
But it has been discovered that two cult groups are responsible for the week-old mayhem that has led to loss of lives. Though no buildings were touched during the crisis, the alleged cultists have continued to kill members of the opposing group.
P.M.NEWS investigations also revealed that the alleged leader of one of the groups, was picked up by the police and she has since been detained at the state Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja.
But residents of Ogunmokun Street, Mushin cannot sleep with their two eyes closed yet as the cultists have continued to strike every night since the crisis started. The situation has forced residents to embark on a self-imposed curfew from 7 p.m. while most of the shops along the street have been shut.
When one of the alleged party to the crisis was contacted, he was said to have travelled overseas. His boys told P.M.NEWS: “Oga has travelled out of the country.â€
Contacted, the DPO in charge of Olosan Police Station, Mushin was also not available for comments.
