The ongoing Under-15 Akanni Olohunwa Soccer Competition has reached the semi final stage at the Campos Sports Centre, Lagos Island, Nigeria.

In the semi final pairings made available to P.M.Sports, Surulere Branch will battle Kakawa Branch today, while Oshodi Branch will confront Okada Central Branch in tomorrow’s encounter.

Match Coordinator, Afolabi Onanike said the Main Organising Committee, which he heads, has decided to hold the final ceremony after the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He said they want to allow players, coaches and football fans to enjoy the World Cup in South Africa, after which they will fix the date for the final, which will be communicated to the finalists very soon.

“We thank God that the tourney is coming to an end. Immediately after the two semi final matches, we’ll start preparations for the closing ceremony. I am sure that the final match will come up after FIFA World Cup,” he said.

Onanike, popularly called Afo, thanked the participating NURTW branches for the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by the teams throughout the competition. He also expressed gratitude to his colleagues for working round clock towards the success of the competition.
