As part efforts to ensure a smooth maiden edition of the Raji Fashola Inter-Continental Wrestling Championship, a Local Organising Committee, LOC, has been put in place.
The LOC is chaired by Prince Demola Adeniji-Adele, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, while Hon. Agboola Dabiri, chairman, Lagos State Sports Council, is the vice chairman of the committee.
Other members of the LOC are Dr. Niran Adeniji, Special Adviser to the stateâ€
Alhaji Mohammed is also the Coordinator of the tourney, Alhaji O. Atiku, will handle Planning and Finance, Alhaji Afeeze Damola is in charge of Security and Protocol.
Others are Mr. R.A. Bankole, Hon. James Faleke and Prince F.A.B. Adenekan, who is the Chairman of the stateâ€
Mr. Jide Osokoya of P.M.NEWS and Seba Osoko of Choice F.M. have been appointed as members of the Media and Publicity sub committee.
Osokoya, who is standing in for the chairman of the Media sub committee, Primate Odugbesi, said all hands will be on deck to ensure a successful international wrestling tournament, which is being staged to honour Governor Fashola in Lagos. Odugbesi is currently in South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The competition, which had earlier been scheduled to take place from 1-8 June, 2010 in seven centres in Lagos, Nigeria, will take place between 23 July and 1 August.
Osokoya said the tourney was postponed due to the ongoing World Cup.
