Hoodlums Take Over NYSC Camp

The abandoned camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Igando area of Lagos State, Nigeria, has been turned into a hideout for criminals.

The 15 hectare land was used as the NYSC camp before it was relocated to Iyana Ipaja.

All the buildings in the place are currently in a sorry state while criminals have turned them into their abode where they plan and keep their loot.

gathered that victims of armed robbery attacks and commuter bus robbery, popularly known as ‘one chance’ are taken there and dispossessed of their belongings by hoodlums.

Residents of the area called on the government to do something about the place.

A resident of the area, Emeka Igwenagu, told P.M.NEWS that the wall of the camp was broken by criminals for their nefarious activities.

“Between 7 and 12 p.m., you will see strange faces and sometime, cars will drive into the place and you will hear sound of gun, “ a woman who gave her name simple as Jane added.

Investigation also revealed that a portion of the land has been turned into a football field by youths while some residents have converted some into farmlands.

An official of the state security services (SSS) who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that the agency received complaints about the place and forwarded them to the appropriate quarters but that nothing has been done so far.
