An Ijebu Ode Magistrate’s Court presided over by Magistrate Bayo Ojikutu, has adjourned till 15 September, 2010 for hearing on the suit involving the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State and suspended Chairman of the council, Mr. Tunde Oladunjoye, over the continued possession of the vehicles by Oladunjoye and his councillors.

The committee headed by Mr. Michael Agbolade, had initiated a court action seeking possession of the vehicles and a court order for their return.

However, Oladunjoye, through his counsel, Mr. Ajibola Oluyede, who filed an objection to the  action on Monday, said Agbolade’s suit was vexatious and an abuse of court process since the suspended chairman and his councillors had earlier got an injunction from a Federal High Court, Abuja, restraining Governor Gbenga Daniel from dissolving the Oladunjoye-led administration.

Oluyede therefore posited that the Magistrate Court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit, while also informing that the high court’s order to stay action on the matter was not obeyed by the governor, who not only dissolved the council, but also inaugurated a caretaker committee to oversee its affairs in defiance of the subsisting order.
