The Lagos State House of Assembly, South West, Nigeria has resolved that legislators in Local Government Councils in the state need orientation on legislative procedures.
Members of the House accused the Local councillors of lack of knowledge in legislative matters, thus cheapening the act of law making, especially at the grassroots.
The state lawmakers were united in slamming the local lawmakers for allegedly carrying out their duties without recourse to due process, adding that the local government councillors need enlightenment to function well.
The reaction of the members of the Lagos State House of Assembly was propelled by the suspension of the vice chairman of Badagry Central Local Government, Mrs. Kehinde Togbeola by the council’s legislators led by their leader Demawu Taiwo and the Clerk, R. Omoledun.
The Assembly in its resolution directed the legislative arm of the council to reverse its decision and reinstate the vice chairman, but instead they chased her out of the council when she reported for duty on Monday.
Hustode Moses Dosu, the chairman of Badagry Local Government kept mute over the development when contacted by Political Train.
