Federation Set For Chief Of Army Staff Festival

Nigeria Squash Racket Federation is planning to organise the first Chief of Army Staff Squash Festival, which is scheduled to hold from 16-21August, 2010.

The competition will be played at Army Cantonments across the federation, while the final will hold at the Aguyi Ironsi Army Cantonment, Abuja.

The tourney, which is being organised by the federation in collaboration with Nigerian Army will be played between civilian and military personnel.

President of the federation, Olufemi Ajagbe said the championship will foster a cordial relationship between civilian and the men and officers of Nigerian Army.

According to him, “the championship is the first of its kind in the country and it will help the rank and file in the Army to exhibit their skill in the game of squash.

Ajagbe, whose federation is affiliated with the World Squash Federation, disclosed that winners will emerge at various cantonments. He disclosed further that these winners will now converge to slug it out at the grand finale in Abuja.

“Winners from various cantonments in both male and female categories will meet in Abuja for the champions of the champions contest. I know that the competition will bring the best out of the participating players,” he said.
