Four of the protesting staff of De United Food, manufacturer of Indomie noodles have allegedly been arrested by the police and taken to the Ogun State Police Command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, Nigeria.
One of the workers who spoke to P.M.NEWS this morning said policemen that have been deployed to the Ota factory of the company since their protest began, arrested the workers.
The decision to arrest the workers was taken following their refusal to reason with the management to sack143 of their colleagues. Last week, the Human Resources Manager of the factory, Mr. Kiki Egube, had posted a notice warning the workers to resume work, or else they would not be paid.
When our correspondent visited the factory this morning, it was discovered that the management had retrenched the 143 workers.
