Following an armed robbery attack at Idimu, Lagos State, Nigeria, during which a policeman was shot, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Idimu division, Bola Oluwasegun, a Superintendent of Police, has been removed.
P.M.NEWS gathered that during the incident, the armed men brandished guns along Egbeda-Idimu road, shot and robbed residents and road users, while the police could not confront them.
During the assault, a policeman, Corporal Monday Ijebor, was seriously wounded. He is currently on admission at an undisclosed hospital.
Investigations revealed further that the police in the area were helpless because the robbers possessed superior arms.
Following the incident, the new DPO was immediately deployed to another division by the police authorities.
P.M.NEWS gathered authoritatively that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo, was not happy with the way the DPO handled the incident and quickly redeployed him barely two weeks after he was posted to Idimu station.
P.M.NEWS also gathered that SUPOL Oluwasegun was deployed to Igando division while CSP Ambrose Aghaedo was moved to Idimu to replace him.
A landlord who craved anonymity observed that the area has been relatively peaceful and praised the police for the change.
A source at the station confirmed that the authorities have commenced investigation into the recent robbery attack.
