TASUED, Offa Poly SIFE Empower Students, Communities

Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) has empowered the students and the university community through their various vocational training programmes meant to create economic opportunities for people.

Speaking with Campus Square, the Group Team Manager, Comrade Temidayo Ogundeji, said SIFE is one of the students’ organisations on campus. It was founded in 2007.

Ogundeji said: “Since inception, over 10 projects have been designed and executed in partnership with private organisations and corporate individuals,” adding that four projects have been executed recently to help create solutions to global economic challenges in our communities.

According to him, “some of the projects are Paparazzi ‘’n’’ fan, designed to empower the major digital photo studio in TASUED campus community in Ijagun, where students on campus were taught two functional vocational skills (how to print recharge cards and how to build an inverter as an alternative power supply).

Similarly, Federal Polytechnic, Offa chapter of the Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), in collaboration with Dufil Prime Foods Limited, the producers of Indomie Noodles, has moved a step further  towards alleviating poverty in the community by formally presenting Indomie Push Carts to five beneficiaries. The effort was part of the organsation’s community empowerment projects.

At the presentation, which was held within the premises of the Polytechnic, the Polytechnic Registrar, Alh. Abdul-Hamid Raji, who spoke through his deputy in charge of Academic Affairs, Alhaji Isiaka Agboola, commended the Polytechnic SIFE members for their efforts towards empowering people that have no  source of livelihood.

He, however, urged the SIFE members to make the gesture a continuous programme so as to extend it to others.

The winners, Adeoye Sunday, Saliu Sulaiman, Ademola Abiodun Segun, Kolawole Gabriel and Mrs. Adenike Oyeniyi, were given a push cart, a gas cylinder, a burner and a cartoon of Indomie noodles each.
