A police corporal, Monday Ijebor attached to Idimu Police Station, Lagos, Nigeria, has died after sustaining gun shot wounds during a robbery attack.
Monday died yesterday at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi Araba.
The cop was shot recently at Egbeda-Idimu road during a robbery incident in the area.
P.M.NEWS gathered that during the attack, the armed men indiscriminately shot and robbed residents and road users of their valuables.
Corporal Monday who was at the scene of the attack was seriously wounded and was rushed to LUTH where he died yesterday.
The late Monday who hails from Edo State, was survived by his wife and five months old baby.
The news of his death has thrown the police officers at Idimu station into mourning.
Following the incident, the new DPO who had just been posted to the station was immediately redeployed to another station while the DPO at Igando station, CSP Ambrose Aghedo, was posted there to replace him.
Meanwhile, the residents of Idimu have commended the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo for drafting Aghedo there because since the incident happened they have been living in fear.
