Sponsor of the Under-15 Dosumu Soccer Championship, Ade Dosumu, is happy with the organisation and the standard of play in the opening match of the tourney last weekend.
Dosumu was one of the spectators that watched the opening game between Clinton Football Club of Okota and Smart Striker of Oke-Aro, which ended 2-2 at the Oshodi Sport Centre.
Dosumu described the performance of the young lads as excellent. He told GSG that Nigeria can become a great football nation if the authorities put in place developmental programmes. He said what he saw last Saturday was a clear indication that Nigeria has abundant talents at the grassroots. He urged officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to comb the grassroots for talent.
“I am quite impressed with the performance of the two teams. If Nigeria Football Federation can go back to grassroots instead of depending on professional players abroad, I think we can get good players who can rule the world in the FIFA organised competitions in the nearest future,†he said.
Dosumu, who single-handedly sponsored the tourney, charged participating teams to play the game according to the rules, adding that there are prizes for well-behaved teams at the end of the tourney.
