The slain Action Congress governorship candidate for Ogun State, Adedipupo Dina clocked 50 years yesterday and a special prayer was held today at the Anglican Church, Igbesa, Ijebu Ode to mark his post-humous birthday.
Speaking during the service, Revd. J.O. Fatade, the vicar of the church eulogised the murdered politician, stressing that Nigerians will miss him.
According to the clergyman, “we are celebrating Dipo Dina, who was supposed to clock 50 years today. But some unscrupulous elements in the society cut his life short about six months ago. Friends and family members should stop crying for Dina. Rather, they should try to live a worthy life like him.
“Ijebu Ode knows that it has lost a great son. Ogun State knows it has lost a great man. And Nigeria knows it has lost an icon. Those who murdered Dipo Dina have murdered sleep and they will not know peace throughout their lives.â€
The church was filled to capacity by friends, family and associates of Dina. The people could not hold back tears as eulogies were poured on the late Dina.
The 50th post-humous birthday was organised by friends and associates of the former AC Chief at the church built by Dina in memory of his late father.
Students, traders, politicians who grace the ceremony rain ed curses on the yet-to-be-identified killers of Dina.
Prayers were also held today in the late Dina’s house in Lagos. One of his closest friends, Gbenga Obadara, a governorship aspirant in Ogun State under the platform of the AC, said he will be vying for the seat to ensure that Dina did not die in vain.
According to Obadara, “those who killed Dina eliminated his body but his soul is still with us. I and other friends of Dina will ensure that we sustain his political ideology. We are not mourning him, we are celebrating Dina today.â€
