The only way the country can get rid of poverty is for the leaders to have the interest of the masses at heart and rule with the fear of God.
A chieftain of the Action Congress in Lagos Island, Prince Muritala Olalekan Adagun stated this while speaking with newsmen in Lagos.
Adagun stated that with the huge wealth of the country, Nigeria has nothing to do with poverty if the leaders are not greedy.
Adagun, a member of the Sabore Royal Family in Isale Eko, also used the occasion to declare his intention to run for the House of Representatives seat in Lagos Island Constituency I.
He promised to pay attention to education if elected into the National Assembly. He also said that constituency allowance would be judiciously used to develop infrastructure in the constituency.
The Isale Eko prince said he would set up an advisory committee that would comprise representatives from all the wards in the constituency, that would produce a blueprint for the way forward in the area.
Adagun was the People’s Democratic Party candidate for the House of Assembly in Constituency I of Lagos Island in 2007 before he later dropped the ticket to follow Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele to Action Congress and worked for the success of the party in his area.
