Coach of Nigeria’s Heartland Football Club, Samson Siasia, has assured the team will advance to the semi-final of the CAF Champions League despite being forced to a 1-1 draw by visiting Al Ahly of Egypt in their opening mini-league stage match at the Owerri Township Stadium, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria on Sunday.
The result puts the Nigerians in a tight corner ahead of their next match against J.S. Kabylie of Algeria in a fortnight.
“I don’t have any fear in me that this team will qualify and play in the semi finals of this competition. I must say that my players did well against the Egyptian side,†Siasia who took over the team few weeks ago,” he said.
“Nobody should write us off because the team will gradually get into their rhythm and make the fans happy. I know we have two away games, but we are going to give it our best shot,†said the former Nigerian international who won silver medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympics football event. Also in the same group with Heartland is another Egyptian club, Ismaili.
