Former coach of Nigeria’s U-23 team, Samson Siasia is widely favoured by Nigerians to handle the proposed new-look senior national team, the Super Eagles.

From members of the board of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF to football coaches and soccer loving Nigerians, the talk of Siasia, taking over the Eagles is all over the place.

At this crucial time when the NFF officials are holding talks over the possibility of appointing Siasia, one of Nigerian coaches, Ladan Bosso believes that the former Eagle is the ideal man to lead the Nigerian team out of their present predicament in international football.

Bosso, Chief Coach of Wikki Tourist, while speaking on Brila FM early today said: “with the restructuring of the senior national team, especially with the bulk of the Olympic team taking over from the older players, I think the coach who took them to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games is naturally the best man for the job.

Siasia, who led the Dream Team IV to win silver medal of the football event of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, recently took over as Chief Coach of Heartland Football Club of Owerri.

His first assignment with Heartland was last weekend’s CAF Champions League group match which ended 1-1 against Al Ahly of Egypt at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

P.M. Sports gathered that the NFF plans to redeploy Coach Austin Eguavoen, who assisted Swede tactician, Lars Lagerback at the South Africa 2010 World Cup to the U-23 squad while Siasia is expected to take over the Eagles as the nation begins tune up matches next month.
