Team Manager of Surulere football team, Tamuno Tonye David, has advised Oshodi football team to forget the cup when both teams clash in the final of Under 15 Akani Olohunwa Cup, which holds on 6 August at the Campos Square Mini Stadium, Lagos Island.
David said he was annoyed when he heard that coach of Oshodi football team  boasting  that his team are good for the trophy. He said his players will rather die on the pitch than losing to them in the final.
“We will not take it easy with our opponents when we meet them in the final. They are boasting, but we’ll teach them a good lesson . This is the time for them to taste defeat that they will never forget,†he said.
David, fondly called Jawonlero by his admirers, said his team are well motivated and ready to give their best to lift the trophy, adding that anything short of victory will be a disappointment to the people of Surulere.
“It is the trophy or nothing because we have come a long way. This is the time to win the cup for our fans who have been supporting us since the competition started,†he said.
Meanwhile, the match coordinator, Afolabi Onanaike, promised to provide adequate security during and after the game, adding that any fan that misbehaves during the game will be arrested.
“We are happy that the Nigerian Police Force, Area A command, Lagos, have assured that there will be adequate security throughout the encounter. My advice for the fans is to maintain orderliness throughout the match and shun any act of violence that will bring the game into disrepute ,†he said.
The tourney is sponsored by the Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Lagos State Chapter, Alhaji Akanni Olohunwa.
