A Public Relations and Events Management Consultants, Meljenstin, has thrilled students and other dignitaries at the 1st Apapa Secondary School Essay Award Ceremony for students in the local government area in Lagos State.
The event, which was held at the Apapa Local government secretariat’s Multi-Purpose hall, was a mixture of academic and entertainment as students exhibited their talents to fight for the prestigious awards.
In her welcome address, the Managing Director of Meljenstin, Mrs. Chibuzo Patrick, said the essay competition was designed to encourage learning and promote positive self-esteem among the students
Mrs. Patrick stated that the choice of secondary school students for the competition was highly necessary, adding that total development is very crucial at the early stage in order to ensure a better society.
Meanwhile, the five outstanding students shortlisted for the competition spoke on the topic, The Consequences of Examination Malpractice on Human Capital Development in Nigeria.
Ajayi Lydia, a Junior Secondary Student, SSS, 2 student of Randle Junior Secondary School, Apapa emerged the winner, while Omioha Chigoziri of the same school and Famous Ime-Udo of Apapa Senior Secondary School came second and third respectively.
The winners were presented with certificates of participation and cash prizes of N50,000, N30,000 and N20,000 respectively by the Chairman, Apapa Local Government Area, Honourable Ayodeji Joseph.
The event, which also had in attendance the Chairman of Mushin Local Government Area, Honourable Babatunde Adepitan, was spiced-up by the talented hip-hop artist, Eedris AbdulKareem
