Ex-FCT Minister Down With Cancer

Alhaji Iro Abubakar Dan Muas, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory , FCT, and member Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustees, is sick. He is suffering from an ailment related to cancer.

Last Monday, he underwent a brief medical attention at the Federal Medical Centre in his home state Katsina, before he was flown to Egypt for a thorough medical attention in the early hours of Tuesday.

An impeccable source told P.M.NEWS that the ailment has a long history, “and we believe that he would be able to conquer this one. He is a patriot and had wanted to be treated at home. Even on his sick bed, he still expressed his disillusionment over the state of the nation.”

Iro Dan Musa, former National Deputy Chairman of PDP, was one of the outspoken PDP chieftains in 2006 when he lambasted the South-South and South-East ethnic groups over their attempt to screen the 2007 presidential aspirants from their zones.

He had noted that the screening by the South-South Peoples Assembly scheduled of 19 presidential aspirants from the zone on 1 September, 2006 at Uyo, Akwa Ibom State while the South-East zone had slated their own screening at Umuahia, Capital of Abia state on 21 January the same year, was an exercise in futility.

Iro Dan Musa was among the northern elders that ensured the emergence of the late Umaru  Yar’Adua  as president in 2007.

Before his ailment, it was his belief that the status quo in PDP over zoning be maintained but he was not fit enough to champion the cause.

We learnt that his younger brother, Mamman Abubakar Dan Musa, second Republic Deputy Senate President and a chieftain of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, was by his bed side before he was flown abroad for medical treatment.
