Chairman of Enyimba Football Club of Aba, Felix Anyansi has lamented the ouster of his team from the CAF Confederation Cup.

Anyansi, Enyimba boss.

The former African champions were stopped from progressing to the group stage of the tourney by Zanaco FC of Zambia yesterday. The Nigerian team who were walloped 4-0 by Zambians in the first leg a fortnight ago managed a 2-0 victory in the second leg played at the Aba International Stadium yesterday. They crashed out on 2-4 aggregate.

“Our early ouster was painful, but it was due to  the absence of our key players who left the club without permission. We also have many injured players, which left us with no option than to prosecute the matches with the team we have.

“I’m sad with the defeat because we thought we would do better than this. The Zambians were coordinated, physical on the ball and hungry for glory. I wish Zanaco success in their remaining matches,” said Anyansi.
