The agency in a statement said the suspects were arrested while boarding a flight from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on their way to Europe.

The statement was signed by NDLEA spokesman, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju.

“The six suspects are in our custody for observation and interrogation, pending their arraignment in court.

“ After an arrest is made, the suspect is placed under observation if the mode of drug concealment is ingestion.

“This is because one of the crucial evidence needed for prosecution is the drug.

“ Therefore, we observe them to excrete the drugs which we subject to scientific field test using the UN testing kits,” the statement said.

The suspects, it said, would be charged to court soon.

The statement also quoted the NDLEA Airport Commander, Hamza Umar, as saying that an average of four suspects are apprehended for drug trafficking every week at the airport.
