Oniru United Football Club of Victoria Island have been sent packing from the first round of the Lagos State Grassroots Cup.
The tournament is holding at the Community Primary School, Isheri-Idimu-Alimosho.
Pro Stars defeated Oniru United 4-2 during a penalty shootout after a goalless draw at regulation time to book a place in the second round of the competition.
.Chairman of Oniru United, Ahmed Ajibola Oniru, said he entered the competition not to win the championship but to expose the new players invited for the club
“I am happy that the championship exposed some of the new players in the club. We are going to play more friendly matches so that the coaching crew will select the best for Oba’s Cup,†he said.
The match coordinator, Babajide Stowe, commended the participating teams for playing the game according to the rules and regulations. He said the tourney is knock out format, urging the teams to shun violence that can bring the competition into disrepute
