A gang of armed robbers seized the Lagos-Benin Expressway this morning at the old toll gate in Sagamu near the trailer park.
P.M.NEWS gathered that the robbers blocked the road with a blue Mercedes Benz car and started to dispossess road users off their valuables.
This caused disorderliness and traffic gridlock on the expressway as motorists who had got wind of the incident started making U-turn to escape the robbery attack.
Our correspondents gathered that the robbers, including three men and a lady, all wore black dresses. They operated for about 30 minutes before they were dislodged by a team of policemen on patrol, who received distressed phone calls from members of the public.
Immediately the robbers noticed the approaching police patrol team, they escaped through the Ibadan end of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
