Robinson Emuoma is the Team Manager of  God’s Favour Football Academy of Amuwo-Odofin. He speaks about the club’s plans and other issues with SUNDAY AKINTOYE

When did you establish your academy?
I established the club 9June, 2006 with 5 players but today I can boast of 60 players.

How did you come up with the name of your academy?
It is a Football Academy where players are thought the words of God. At times, I invite men of God  to come and preach or pray for the players. What I am saying is that the players are just like a family because they tolerate one another

Why has the academy not been participating in high profile competitions ?
We have participated in big competitions. It is just that journalists don’t report our activities, both in the electronic and print media.

Can you mention the competitions you take part recently?
We took part in the just concluded Under 13 Edwin Collins Cup held at the FIFA Legacy football pitch of the National Stadium, Lagos

Did you win the tournament?
My boys did not win the tournament, but the young lads gave a good account of themselves. They played well, but unfortunately lost to New Generation Football Academy 5-0 in the quarter final. The result was scandalous to many people but I was quite impressed with my boys performance.

What are the achievements of the club in the last four years?
We have not won laurels but we took part in so many competitions. Some of my players who were graduated to the senior level have travelled to Europe and other Africa countries. The player like Chukwumaeze Chidibe is in Russia League division one, while Handsome Obong and Okechukwu Isaac are in Mauritania playing their professional League.

Where do you see this Academy in the nearest future?
I see the Academy playing in National Amateur League. We need to work hard in order to achieve our goal. I am optimistic that God’s Favour will play in National Amateur League someday.
