Non Alliance Group, a sociopolitical group, has called for the re-election of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State and the chairman of Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area of the state, Dr. Adesola Samuel Adedayo, for the excellent performance of their respective administrations and what it described as unexpected development brought to Lagos State and Apapa/Iganmu council respectively.
In a chat with P.M.News, the group stated that both the state and LCDA have witnessed unprecedented development since both the governor and the council chairman assumed office.
Alhaji Ibrahim Oladimeji, chairman of the group, stated that although the political group is a new, it was established to campaign for the re-election of the governor and the Apapa/Iganmu LCDA chairman after those that formed the group was convinced with the performance of the duo.
‘‘The group was formed to campaign for the re-election of Governor Fashola and our council chairman, Dr. Adedayo and this was based on what we see them doing both at the state and the local government.
‘‘We thought it among ourselves that the only way that we can reciprocate their gesture towards the residents of the state, is to campaign for their re-election, so that they can extend the dividends of democracy to other parts of the state and the local government,†he explained.
Highlighting the council chairman’s achievement, Oladimeji stated that he has been able to transform the council area by providing jobs for the teeming youths, while he constructed and rehabilitated many roads and drainage.
Other areas of the council chairman’s achievement, according to the group, are reactivation of street lights, empowerment of women, provision of GCE and JAMB forms as well as free coaching classes for candidates preparing for such examinations.
All these, he said, the area council has not witnessed since it was established.
The group leader also stated that apart from campaigning for the re-election of both men, the group has been able to empower some youths in the area with skill acquisition, payment for those who cannot afford both GCE and JAMB fees as well as get youths engaged in one vocation or another, in order to combat youth restiveness in the area.
Oladimeji, however, called on the residents of the state and the local council development area to ensure that they ensure re-election of Governor Babatunde Fashola and Dr. Adedayo in the coming election, so that they could continue their good works in office.
